Ed originally became involved in Boccia in 2003 in the role of performance partner/coach for his son Brock. He helped to coach a couple local athletes and, soon afterwards, was introduced to Amanda Fader of Ontario Cerebral Palsy Sports Association. From 2006 until present he has been Head Coach for the provincial boccia team. His main role with the national program has been in the development of the BC1 and BC2 athletes.
He took some time off from the national program from 2015 until 2018 having to devote more time to his full-time job at a large building supply wholesaler. He is now back and looking forward to developing the athletes to achieve their very best on the international stage. He explains that his philosophy is fairly simple: “Play with confidence!”
His highlights while being involved in this sport would range from seeing the smiles of a grassroots athlete just learning to play the sport to seeing the smiles of an athlete on the podium receiving their medal at a Paralympic event
