28 Years of Boccia in London at Annual Tournament: Competition Results

Boccia Blast London Cannonballs

London, ON (October 30, 2018) – The Carling Heights Optimist Community Centre in London, Ontario played host last week (October 19-21, 2018) to Boccia Blast – an annual competition hosted by the London Cannonballs Boccia Club.

Celebrating 28 years, Boccia Blast is a National Open Tournament sanctioned by Boccia Canada for players just starting out, as well as the country’s high-performance athletes.

Over three days of competition, athletes competed in individual, team and pair events across BC1, BC2, BC3 and BC4.

About the London Cannonballs

The London Cannonballs is a local club that caters to athletes with disabilities through the sport of boccia. Run by athletes and volunteers, the Cannonballs are an incredibly positive force in the lives of many. From recreation to competition, London Cannonballs athletes transcend their disabilities with every ball they throw. The club provides opportunities to players just starting out as well as elite amateur athletes. The Cannonballs gives athletes assistance in traveling to many competitions around Ontario, Canada and the world. Club members have competed at World Championships, Pan-American and Paralympic Games across the globe.

About Boccia Canada

Boccia Canada is the boccia delivery arm of the Canadian Cerebral Palsy Sports Association (CCPSA), the National Sport Organization for the Paralympic sport of boccia. Boccia Canada is focused on providing athletes and individuals of all ages and skill with the chance to play a unique Paralympic sport. About boccia

Boccia is a Paralympic sport of precision and strategy similar to lawn bowling or curling, played by athletes with Cerebral Palsy, Muscular Dystrophy and related disabilities. It is one of only two Paralympic sports that do not have an Olympic counterpart. Athletes compete in one of six sport classes based on their level and type of disability: BC1, BC2, BC3 BC4, BC5, and Open.
