2015-2016 National Team Training Squad Announcement
Ottawa, ON (May 27, 2015) – The Canadian Cerebral Palsy Sports Association is pleased to announce the members of the 2015-2016 National Team Training Squad as well as the athletes who will compete at the 2015 Boccia Americas Team & Pairs Championships in Montreal from April 27th to May 3rd. The sixteen players on the National Team Training Squad were chosen based on their performance at a March selection camp and the 2015 Canadian Boccia Championships.
“There’s a good balance of youth and experience and a mix of athletes from across Canada. From what we observed at the Canadian Championships, this team is ready to compete in Montreal and will give us a good base from which to select the team for the Parapan American Games” commented Head Coach Mario Delisle.
Among the squad are veterans World No.1 Marco Dispaltro (QC) and five time Paralympian Paul Gauthier (BC). Member of CIBC Team Next, Alison Levine (QC) also makes a return to the squad after winning gold in pair play alongside Dispaltro at Nationals and snagging the silver in the individual competition. Making his debut to the group is promising newcomer Iulian Ciobanu (QC).
