Impressive plays from Dukovich and Bussière on Day Two of BISFed World Open

Santiago de Cali, Colombia (November 1, 2015) – The second day of the BISFed World Open in Santiago de Cali, Colombia brought on mixed results for the Canadians.

After a disappointing first day of competition, The BC1/BC2 Team took a solid win with a score of (8-4) against Bermuda.

Opening ceremonies flag bearer for the Toronto 2015 Parapan American Games, BC4 Marco Dispaltro (Montréal, QC) went head to head with Jean-Paul La Fontaine of Australia. The first two ends were close with a score of (1-1), but Dispaltro was not deterred taking a solid win of (5-1). Of the game, he says “did enough to win today but will have to step it up a notch to win tomorrow and advance”.

Member of CIBC Team Next, Alison Levine (Montréal, QC) struggled against Duban Cely of Colombia in her day’s match, trailing at (5-0) at the mid-way point of the game. She came back to take two points in the third end but unfortunately it wasn’t enough, the match ended with a score of (8-2). Both Dispaltro and Levine will try to quality for the round of eight tomorrow.

BC2 Tammy McLeod (London, ON) led her match with a score of (3-0) after the first two ends against her opponent Kai Zhong of China. Unfortunately, he retaliated, taking four points in the third end and the win with a final score of (5-3). Meanwhile, BC2 Adam Dukovich (Ottawa, ON) dominated with a score of (13-0) against Carlos Pereira of Colombia and BC3 Éric Bussière (Montréal, QC) with a score of (9-3) against Gabriela Villano of Argentina.

A surprising loss for BC1 Hanif Mawji (Burnaby, BC) who faltered in overtime to Omar Hayward of Bermuda with a score of (4-4). BC1 Chris Halpen (Victoria, BC) also had a tough match, losing to Daniel Perez from the Netherlands with a score of (1-9).
