Ottawa, ON (July 26, 2024) – Boccia Canada is thrilled to announce that Ottawa will be the host city for the 2024 Canadian Boccia Championships this November. It is the 30th anniversary of the Championships and the first time it has been held in the nation’s capital.

Event: 2024 Canadian Boccia Championships
Date: November 13th – 17th
Location: RA Centre, 2451 Riverside Drive, Ottawa, Ontario K1H 7X7

The event will showcase the best Canadian boccia athletes across six classifications: BC1, BC2, BC3, BC4, BC5, and Open. Athletes will compete for medals in both individual and team/pair events.

Beyond the games on court, other highlights of the 2024 Canadian Boccia Championships will include 30th anniversary celebrations marking three decades of boccia excellence in Canada and the opportunity to see the 2024 Paralympic Boccia Team in action

Over one hundred people are involved in putting this event together including officials, staff, athletes, PPs, and coaches. The majority of these are volunteers uniting to support and celebrate boccia across Canada. Local event volunteers will also be needed.

“We are so excited to welcome the boccia community to Ottawa this November,” stated Peter Leyser, Executive Director, Boccia Canada. “It seems fitting that we celebrate the 30th Anniversary of the event here in the nation’s capital. We welcome people in the Ottawa-Gatineau region to come out and watch the tremendous athleticism and skill on display throughout the competition.”

This Championship represents the pinnacle of competitive boccia in Canada and highlights the spirit of community and inclusivity that is a hallmark of this sport. Media representatives are invited to attend and cover the event, with opportunities for interviews and behind-the-scenes access to current and up-and-coming stars.

Special thanks to the Government of Canada, Ottawa Tourism, and the Ontario Cerebral Palsy Sports Association for their partnership in this event.

More details about the event, including how to sign up as a volunteer, can be found on the 2024 Canadian Boccia Championships webpage here.
