The Announcement of the 2014 Boccia Team for the World Championships
Ottawa, ON (July 7, 2014) – The Canadian Cerebral Palsy Sports Association is excited to announce the 2014-2015 National Team named to compete at the BISFed World Championships in Beijing this September. The ten players were selected from the sixteen athletes making up the National Boccia Training Squad.
Mario Delisle, Head Coach of the National Team Program, is looking forward to the upcoming season. “I am pleased, along with my group of assistant coaches, to be moving forward with the ten athletes selected in preparation for the World Championships. We certainly have more work to do, but we will make sure that we do everything necessary to ensure that the potential of each athlete is maximized and that everyone is ready in September. Delisle will conduct two training camps in Montreal this month for BC3 and BC4 athletes on July 18-20 and for BC1 and BC2 athletes on July 25-27.
Marco Dispaltro, a world ranked player has been named to the team. He recently returned from the BISFed International Open in Povoa, Portugal with the gold medal in the BC4 singles division. BC4 athlete Alison Levine and BC3 athlete Eric Bussière will be making their debuts at the World Championships.
