Individual competition wrapped up at the 2019 Sao Paulo Boccia America Regional Championships with Alison Levine and Danik Allard each winning bronze, falling just short of earning a coveted direct qualification slot at the 2020 Tokyo Paralympic Games. More Tokyo qualification slots will be up for grabs in the pairs and team events, which start tomorrow.

Iulian Ciobanu’s family packed their bags and moved from Moldova to Canada in 2010. As a person living with a disability, Ciobanu didn’t feel that he had the same opportunities to build a family and career in Moldova. He also felt that Canada would be more stable economically, politically and socially. From 2010 to 2014 Ciobanu settled in with his wife Corina and daughters, Alexandra and Eleonora while simultaneously learning French and English as a Québec resident.

Twelve organizations across Canada will receive a total of $28,000 in grants from the Canadian Cerebral Palsy Sports Association through the 2019-20 Provincial Development grant program.

Boccia Canada is pleased to announce the 11 athletes who will represent Canada at the 2019 Sao Paulo America Regional Championships from September 29 to October 5.

Canada won double bronze in pairs to wrap up the boccia event with three total medals at the 2019 Lima Parapan American Games.
