OTTAWA, ON (October 27, 2025) – Boccia Canada is excited to announce the official roster that will be competing in the Chile 2025 Youth Parapan Am Games, happening from October 31 to November 9.
Four athletes will be travelling to compete: Fatima Abderrahmane (Montreal, QC), Joe Philpott (St. John’s, NL), Carter Plumb (Brampton, ON) and Andrew Woodrow (St. John’s, NL). The team will be accompanied by High Performance Director Mario Delisle and National Team Coach Eileen Bartlett.
Each of the four athletes will take their shot in the individual competition – Abderrahmane and Plumb in BC3, Philpott in BC1, and Woodrow in BC4. After that wraps up, the two BC3 athletes will team up for the Pairs competition.
This event showcases the up-and-coming generation of sporting talent, bringing together athletes between the ages of 13 and 20. The event will unfold across three different regions of Chile – the boccia competition will take place in Santiago. This also presents an excellent opportunity for Canada’s young athletes to experience a multi-sport Games, as they build toward potentially competing in the Parapan Am or Paralympic Games.
Plumb, Philpott, and Woodrow all attended the World Boccia Youth Championships earlier this year, whereas Chile 2025 will be Abderrahmane’s first international event. All eyes will be on the young athletes during this event, especially as the high-performance team looks towards the Los Angeles 2028 Paralympic Games.
Plumb is eager to take on this next challenge, embracing both the competition and the camaraderie that comes with it. “I am excited to be given a chance to compete at the Youth Parapan Am Games with Team Canada. I hope to perform my best at this event. It is a pleasure to reunite with the group from the World Youth Championships, as well as some new faces and I am excited to see what the rest of the boccia contingent and I can do.”
Bartlett recognizes the value this competition will bring. “We are all looking forward to being part of the Youth Parapan Am Games in Santiago. It is an amazing opportunity for these young athletes to participate in their first international multisport Games. This valuable experience will help the athletes to balance their focus on their performance, as well as navigate the challenges of travel with competition demands but yet enjoy the adventure.”
